Ranking Tournaments

Ranking Tournaments

Ranking tournaments play a crucial role in the NZ Superleague competition structure, allowing players to earn ranking points based on their performance. Ranking points determine selections for New Zealand representative teams, ensuring a fair and transparent process.

These tournaments offer a competitive platform for players to test their skills, gain experience, and progress to higher-level events. Open to all skill levels, they provide a structured and challenging pathway for those aspiring to compete nationally and internationally.

Each year, there are three major ranking tournaments:

  • North Island Championships
  • South Island Championships
  • National Championships

Each tournament features categories for Men, Ladies, and Juniors (U18).

Eligibility

  • Ranking tournaments are only open to NZ Superleague financial members. Learn more here.
  • Players must be a resident of the respective island of New Zealand to play in the North and South Island tournaments. Stewart Island residents may play in the South Island’s, Chatham Islands residents in the North Island’s.
  • You may only play in one island event per year.

Tournament Format

  • Section play followed by double elimination (up to the quarter-finals)
  • Knockout rounds to determine final placements
