The IEPF (International Eightball Pool Federation) World Championships is the pinnacle of international 8 Ball competition, bringing together the best players from around the globe to compete for the ultimate title.
Held annually, this prestigious event showcases top-tier talent across multiple divisions, including Men’s, Women’s, Seniors, and Juniors.
As the premier international tournament for English 8 Ball, the WEPF World Championships provide New Zealand players with the opportunity to test their skills against the world’s best and represent their country on the global stage.

Team categories
- Junior U18
- Under 23
- Ladies
- Men
- Over 50
- Over 60
Every category has its own World Singles, World Masters and World Pairs events.
Players from the Under 23’s and Over 50’s can also play in the Men’s World Singles event.
Over 60’s players can also play in the Over 50’s Worlds Singles event.
Men’s and Ladies Teams also play in the Ultimate Pool Teams Shootout event,> This is on a TV Table, a timed match (with fast shot clock) and a 6 red shootout in play if the match is tied. This event is straight knockout.
All other team events are Round Robin format.
Qualifying for the New Zealand team
Each year, the World Championship teams are selected based on the 8 Ball Superleague National Ranking Lists (Ladies, Men & Juniors) plus a wildcard for each team is selected by the Committee.
Players can earn ranking points in Superleague Ranking Tournaments, with selection following a straightforward process.
Selection Process
- The highest-ranked player is selected first.
- If a player qualifies for multiple categories (e.g., Men’s & Over 50s), they can choose which category to compete in.
- A player can only compete in one category.
- The selection process continues down the ranking list until all team category spots are filled.
- If a player declines their selection, the next eligible ranked player may be chosen.
